FILMOGRAPHY | THAT 70'S SHOW (1998-2005)

Too cool for the Wisconsin suburbs where he lives under the authority of his parents -- Red (Kurtwood Smith) and Kitty (Debra Jo Rupp) -- 17-year-old Eric Forman (Topher Grace) yearns for his independence. In the meanwhile, he steals beers, borrows the family car to go to concerts, and tries to take over the world in the basement.
His friends: Donna (Laura Prepon), his neighbour he's known since age 4 and who he's been secretly in love with forever; Hyde (Danny Masterson), his best friend, conspiracy theorist who thinks Xerox will take over the world; Kelso (Ashton Kutcher), the good-looking but gullible guy; Jackie (Mila Kunis), Kelso's girlfriend who's hated by the whole gang and Fez (Wilmer Valderrama), the foreign exchange student who's soaking up American culture like a sponge.

His role: Eric Forman is the main character of the show. He's a rather quiet and sensitive teenager with a great sense of humor. His relationship with his father is quite difficult and the fact that Red is a hardass doesn't help. He hates his sister Laurie, who's the incarnation of the devil according to him. He has to deal with the moodswings of his mother who's going through "the change of life". He likes to get away from his family and hang out in the basement with his friends.

• Quotes from the stars
Topher Grace: "I would recommend the sitcom to any young actor. It's the greatest graduate school. You can be good and then come back the next week and be excellent. You get to have a second chance. You just have to stay on the air and over a period of time you learn how to be professional. It's like the boot camp and graduate school of acting, and also you have genius writers who know how to write to you specifically."

Topher Grace: "I think you can tell how much fun we’re having. I couldn’t imagine a better job than being with those five kids, just screwing around all week, which is what we do."

Wilmer Valderrama: "Topher really helped me. We're like brothers, we talk about everything. I cried to Topher. He gave me a hug and said "Dude, seriously, not worth it, bro. She's not The One. It's that simple." (about getting over a breakup)

Wilmer Valderrama: "One time, Topher and I stole a golf cart from the studio and drove it all over, in the street, around the lot, everything. The security guards reported it to the creators of the show but Topher was like, 'What are they going to say?'"

Laura Prepon: "We just have so much fun and people say that it comes across in the show."

Laura Prepon: "Oh, yeah, we hang out all the time, which makes it easier, because when we're doing our work, it looks like we're friends, which we are. We met about two weeks before the pilot, and people were surprised because we got along so well that it looks like we really grew up together."

Debra Jo Rupp: "There are little problems because, you know, they're kids. And they'll come and talk to me and then I'll get all emotional ...and then I'll see they're getting emotional, and this is not really a good thing to have on the set, and then I'll go, 'You talk to Kurtwood.' And then Kurtwood calms them down and tells them what to do"

Danny Masterson: "Topher's a great guy but we have different personnalities."

Mila Kunis: "Yeah, we all get along really well. Everybody's really cool and down to earth. And we all live near each other too. It's really nice!"

Mila Kunis: "I get treated like a little sister. I always get my way because I'm the youngest!"

Jeff Filgo: "He has such range. His work ethic is unbelievable, here we are in our sixth season and we have done 150 episodes and he has never come unprepared to a table read."

Mark Brazil: "They've been astonishing to us. Bonnie [Turner, a fellow executive producer] used to joke that working with young actors was just like herding cats. We thought 'Geez, if they just show up on time.' They're [except for Masterson] not showbiz kids. We didn't want anyone doing the hacky, wisecracking TV-kid bit. But it was hard work. When a take would go wrong, they would immediatly blame themselves. They didn't understand how things worked, but they've learned everything in a season."
